The UAE Ministry of Justice describes a legal translator accredited by the Ministry of Justice as a registered professional role. Its registration service is for individuals and results in a translator card. The same word can mean different things to different HR officers, lawyers, banks, portals and authorities. Use this as a conversation guide, not as a substitute for the recipient’s written requirement.

Common recipient scenarios
A court, notary, ministry, immigration portal or government entity may specify an MOJ-licensed legal translator. A bank, employer, university, insurer or private company may accept a company-certified translation—but policies vary by institution, branch, procedure and document.
Do not infer the stamp from the recipient’s category alone. Obtain the exact wording whenever possible.
Documents that may use either outcome
Birth and marriage certificates, degrees, transcripts, police clearances, employment letters, powers of attorney, tenancy documents, contracts, notices, evidence and corporate records can all be translated under either certification outcome.
The document type does not decide the stamp by itself. The destination and its stated submission rule decide.
Quality, completeness and rejection risk
Whichever stamp is requested, the translation should be accurate, complete and readable. Names, dates, figures, seals, handwritten notes and visible endorsements may matter to the submission.
The wrong stamp can cause rejection even when the language work is accurate. A correct stamp does not rescue an incomplete or inaccurate translation.
Translation versus attestation, notarisation and legalisation
Translation changes the language and certifies the translation. Attestation or legalisation verifies an original document through a separate chain such as an issuing authority, embassy or UAE MOFA. Notarisation is another distinct act.
