RTA Vehicle Inspection Remarks: What to Check

An RTA pass is not a vehicle-history report. Learn what to request from the seller, when Arabic translation helps, and what still needs inspection.

An RTA inspection pass and a vehicle-history report answer different questions. Before buying a used car in Dubai, identify the document in front of you, read the complete result, and do not treat one translated remark as a mechanical verdict.

Start with the document name

RTA’s vehicle inspection service checks roadworthiness for registration, renewal, sale, data verification, or export and transfer outside the UAE. Its output is a Technical Inspection Certificate, valid for 30 days.

That certificate is not the same as RTA’s Technical Vehicle Status Report. The status report can include ownership history, insurance validity and recorded inspection information. RTA also makes two limits explicit:

  • the current owner must agree to disclose the vehicle data;
  • the report does not include vehicle accident data.

This distinction matters. A roadworthiness result does not establish that a vehicle has never been repaired, and a status report is not an accident-history certificate.

What to ask the seller for

Ask for the complete document, not a screenshot of one remark. Check:

  • the certificate or report title;
  • the vehicle details and inspection date;
  • the overall result;
  • every remarks or notes section;
  • any referenced attachment or previous inspection record.

For the Technical Vehicle Status Report, RTA says the owner can select the report language during the request. If the seller cannot provide it in a language you read, ask for the full original and arrange translation before relying on it.

What translation can and cannot do

Translation can tell you what the Arabic text on the supplied document says. It can preserve model names, chassis references, dates, measurements and qualifiers that may be lost in a quick summary.

It cannot confirm that the underlying observation is mechanically correct. It also cannot reveal accident data that RTA says is outside the status report, inspect a repair, estimate the vehicle’s value, or decide whether the car is safe to buy.

If a remark could affect your decision, use the translation to frame the next question for the seller or inspector. Keep the document review and the mechanical assessment separate.

Send enough context for a reliable review

Send:

  • all pages of the certificate or report;
  • a clear image with headings and remarks visible;
  • the language you need;
  • whether you are buying, registering, exporting or resolving a dispute;
  • the spelling of any name that must match another document.

We first confirm the source language, target language and fulfilling provider. If a stamped legal translation is actually needed, we confirm the credential before quoting. A plain-language review may be enough when the immediate job is simply to understand a remark before speaking to an inspector.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our translation services.

What does an RTA vehicle inspection pass confirm?

RTA describes the inspection as a roadworthiness check used for vehicle registration, renewal, sale, data verification, or export and transfer outside the UAE. The resulting Technical Inspection Certificate is valid for 30 days. A pass should not be treated as a complete accident or ownership-history report.

Does the RTA Technical Vehicle Status Report include accident data?

No. RTA states that this separate report includes information such as ownership history and insurance validity, but does not include vehicle accident data. The current owner must consent to disclosure.

Can I request the RTA vehicle report in English?

RTA's current service lets the owner select the report language when requesting a Technical Vehicle Status Report. If another certificate or inspection note remains in Arabic, send the complete document for a translation review rather than relying on one cropped line.

Can a translation tell me whether a used car is safe to buy?

No. Translation can explain the text in the document. It cannot inspect the vehicle, verify missing history, price a repair, or replace an independent mechanical assessment.
