MOFA Rejected Your Degree? Check the Attestation Route
If a degree attestation is rejected, use the recorded reason and the current MOFA route. Do not assume every older document needs a hologram sticker.
Was the degree returned or rejected?
Send the document and the recorded reason for a translation-scope review. Confirm the attestation step with UAE MOFA, the relevant UAE mission, and the receiving authority before paying for re-attestation or a new translation.
An older degree may be genuine and still be returned during a new application. That does not prove that every old attestation is invalid or that one missing hologram caused the problem. Start with the reason recorded by the authority.
What the Current MOFA Service Says
The current UAE MOFA document-attestation service assigns the route from the issuing authority and document type.
- Digital attestation is limited to eligible digital documents issued in the UAE and intended for use abroad.
- An eligible digital document must include an original verification feature, such as a QR code, barcode, electronic link, or reference number.
- Documents issued outside the UAE follow the applicable attestation procedures through UAE missions abroad.
- The current service page does not publish a universal rule that every older foreign degree needs a new hologram sticker.
A verification feature in the digital service is not evidence that every paper degree must carry the same feature.
Use the Rejection Notice as the Starting Point
Before requesting a new stamp, translation, or full re-attestation, identify what the notice actually records:
- Issuing authority or document type. Check that the application used the correct category.
- Document condition and completeness. Confirm that the submitted document and every existing attestation page are clear and complete.
- Foreign-document route. For a document issued outside the UAE, confirm the current steps with the competent authority and the relevant UAE mission.
- UAE MOFA step. Follow the route shown by the official service rather than assuming a sticker-only fix.
- Receiving authority. Ask what that authority requires before resubmission; it makes the final acceptance decision.
- Translation scope. If the document changed after translation, ask whether the final version must be translated again.
Apostille Status Does Not End the UAE Route
Pakistan has been a party to the Apostille Convention since 9 March 2023, and Bangladesh since 30 March 2025. The UAE is not a party, so an apostille alone does not complete a UAE-bound route. Confirm the issuing-country authentication with the relevant UAE mission, then complete UAE Embassy or Consulate and UAE MOFA attestation as required before any final translation the receiving authority requests.
Because the UAE is not a Convention party, there is no UAE-issued Convention apostille. That is different from UAE MOFA attestation.
A Safer Decision Table
| What the notice or file shows | What to confirm before paying |
|---|---|
| The issuing authority or document type was selected incorrectly | Ask MOFA which application category applies |
| A foreign-issued document has an incomplete route | Check the competent authority, UAE mission, and UAE MOFA steps |
| A page, stamp, or verification element is illegible | Ask the authority that issued it how to obtain a verifiable version |
| The document changed after translation | Ask the recipient whether a new translation must include the change |
| The reason is unclear | Use MOFA’s official support channel and the receiving authority’s case reference |
Do not infer a fee, processing time, expiry period, or acceptance outcome from the document’s age alone. Use the current official route and fee information for the actual application.
How We Help Without Deciding for the Authority
We can review the visible document and rejection notice, identify the translation questions, and quote any translation after the scope is clear. We cannot determine the authority’s final acceptance decision or invent an attestation requirement that does not appear in its guidance.
Send the document and notice through WhatsApp. Confirm the official attestation route first; then translate the final version only if the receiving authority requires it.
