Quick answers

Before you send your ID

My driving licence is in English. Should I pay for translation?

No. Dubai RTA accepts an English driving licence as-is for language purposes. Do not use the payment links on this page. You still need to satisfy RTA eligibility and document requirements.

Why do you need my Emirates ID first?

Dubai RTA applications need Dubai residency. We check the issuing emirate before taking payment so you do not buy the wrong service. A Dubai free-zone Emirates ID counts as Dubai residency.

What do I send?

Start with a clear photo of your Emirates ID. After we confirm eligibility, send clear photos of the front and back of your driving licence. You do not need to visit our office or leave the original licence with us.

What will I receive?

You receive an Arabic translation prepared in the format used for Dubai RTA applications. We send the PDF on WhatsApp or email. A hard copy is available on request.

Does the AED 150 price cover every language?

The standard price is AED 150 for one driving licence translated from another language into Arabic. A licence already in English or Arabic does not need this language-translation product. Multi-page or unusual documents are checked first.

Do I need MOJ-certified translation for RTA?

Not for the standard Dubai RTA driving licence transfer service on this page. If another authority specifically asks you for MOJ certification, send us its instruction and we will quote the correct service.

What if my Emirates ID is from another emirate?

Do not pay for the Dubai service. We can still help with driving licence translation for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and the other emirates. Send your ID and tell us where you are applying so we can route you correctly.

Eligibility and residency rules Why we check first, when we proceed and how other emirates differ

We would rather refuse the Dubai job than watch it get rejected

A licence already in English or Arabic does not need this language-translation product. For a licence in another language, residency may still place the application in another emirate. We check both before you spend money on the wrong product.

Send your Emirates ID before the licence. If it was issued under Dubai, including a Dubai free zone, we proceed. If it was not, we stop before payment and route you toward the authority for your emirate.

We proceed with the Dubai route

  • Emirates ID issued under a Dubai employer or sponsor
  • Dubai free-zone residency, including DMCC, JAFZA, DAFZA or DIFC
  • Dubai family, investor or partner residency

We stop and check another route

  • Emirates ID issued under Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman or another emirate
  • Visit or tourist status with no Emirates ID
  • Emirates ID expired or still in process

The earlier three-step explanation

  1. Step 1

Send your licence and Emirates ID first

We check the licence language and the Dubai route for free. If the licence is already in English or Arabic, we stop: no language translation is needed.

  2. Step 2

We confirm translation is needed, or we stop

We decline unnecessary language work and stop if Dubai is not the correct route. You keep your money and your time.

  3. Step 3

    Send the licence, pay, collect

For a licence in another language, send clear photos of the front and back. We translate it into Arabic in RTA format and return the PDF, usually in 1-2 business days.

Other emirates

Dubai RTA is only one authority. If your residency sits in Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain, we can translate your licence for that emirate's traffic department. Send the Emirates ID and tell us where you are applying.

Abu Dhabi handles licence conversion through its own transport process. Read the Abu Dhabi DOT licence conversion guide, compare Abu Dhabi and Dubai translation rules, or use the all-emirates driving licence translation hub.

Certification and RTA-format notes What the AED 150 service includes and when MOJ certification is separate

What you are actually buying

The AED 150 standard service covers an accurate Arabic translation of a licence in another language, laid out in the format used for Dubai RTA driving licence applications. It does not apply to a licence already in English or Arabic, and it does not automatically add an MOJ stamp or a courier charge.

We can produce MOJ-certified legal translation under licence #701 for supported language pairs when another authority specifically requires it. Tell us which authority is asking before paying for that extra service.

We do not claim to be an RTA-accredited translation office. Final document acceptance always belongs to the receiving authority, so we ask about your route and appointment before confirming the order.

Detailed questions from the earlier page Price, free zones, originals, Arabic licences and overseas use

Does an English driving licence need translation for Dubai RTA?

No. Dubai RTA accepts an English driving licence as-is for language purposes. Do not pay for this translation product if the licence is already in English. You must still meet RTA eligibility and document requirements.

How much does driving licence translation cost in Dubai?

AED 150 per licence that is not already in English or Arabic, translated into Arabic and formatted for RTA. The translation price does not apply when no language translation is needed. Hard copies and courier delivery are quoted separately.

Why do you ask for my Emirates ID before you accept the job?

Because RTA rejects licence applications from people whose residency is not Dubai. We check the issuing emirate first so you do not pay for a translation that gets refused at the counter. If your Emirates ID is not Dubai-issued, we decline the Dubai RTA work and route you to the correct emirate service.

My visa is through a Dubai free zone. Does that count as Dubai?

Yes. Dubai free zone residency is Dubai residency for this purpose. What matters is that the Emirates ID was issued under a Dubai entity, not the emirate your employer is headquartered in.

What if my Emirates ID is from Abu Dhabi or Sharjah?

Do not pay for the Dubai RTA product. We can still translate your licence for the emirate that issued your residency. Abu Dhabi has its own requirements, so start with the Abu Dhabi DOT guide.

Do you handle Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain?

Yes. We translate driving licences for the traffic department of every emirate, not just Dubai. The Dubai Emirates ID rule on this page applies to Dubai RTA applications only. Tell us which emirate you are applying in and we will prepare the file for that authority.

Is this MOJ-certified legal translation?

The standard Dubai RTA service on this page does not include an MOJ stamp. We can produce MOJ-certified translation under licence #701 for supported language pairs when another authority specifically asks for it.

Will RTA accept a translation that is not MOJ-certified?

For the driving licence service described here, we prepare the Arabic translation in the format used for Dubai RTA applications. We do not claim to be an RTA-accredited translator. Final acceptance always remains with the receiving authority.

Can I pay extra to have it MOJ-certified anyway?

If your language pair is supported, yes, and we will quote it. Tell us which authority is asking for certification. If the document is only for the RTA counter, we will explain whether that extra service is necessary before you pay.

Do you need my original licence?

Not for the translation. Clear photos of the front and back are enough for us to work from. RTA may ask for the original physical licence at the counter, so bring it to your appointment.

How long does the translation take?

Standard turnaround is 1-2 business days. Tell us your appointment date when you send the file and we will say plainly whether we can meet it. Same-day and urgent work must be confirmed before payment.

What if my licence is already in Arabic?

An Arabic licence does not need Arabic translation. English licences are also accepted as-is by Dubai RTA. Send us a photo first if the licence is bilingual or you are unsure which language controls.

Can you translate my licence for a country outside the UAE?

We translate driving licences into other languages as well, but this AED 150 product is scoped to Dubai RTA. For an overseas authority, send its instruction and we will quote against that requirement.
